WELCOME TO HODAN

Hodan is a registered charity working with the Somali and wider BAME community in London to reduce poverty, build skills and confidence, enhance wellbeing, and promote inclusion and social cohesion.

Solving Problems, Saving Lives

Our free, AQS-accredited Advice and Information Service helps people solve complex problems involving housing, benefits, utilities, etc. The ‘invisible’ impacts include preventing homelessness, keeping families together and averting mental health crises.

HELPING PEOPLE BACK INTO WORK

Hodan has received funding to support members of the BAME community who have lost their jobs or businesses, and those struggling to find enough casual work. We offer free one-to-one advice on CVs and online applications, interview tips, and information about relevant training opportunities.

CREATING ACTIVE COMMUNITIES

Hodan reduces social isolation and improves mental health through a Befriending Project for elderly people and a Women’s Wellbeing Club offering free online Zumba classes, and by giving people the confidence to make new friends and access services.

A USER-LED ORGANISATION

Most of our Trustees are current or former service users. We carry out regular evaluations and strategy consultations to make sure we’re delivering what our communities need most. Our work is flexible and responsive to changing circumstances, including COVID-19.

ADVICE YOU CAN TRUST

Hodan has been awarded the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and is a member of Advice UK. All our advice staff are fluent in Somali and can translate documents, and/or advocate with landlords or local authorities, for clients who don’t speak English.
